The AA does not recommend hotels lightly. Every hotel in the AA accreditation scheme has been personally visited by our Inspectors because we know that our Members trust our word. When we say a hotel is superb it is not because they have asked us to or have paid us to – it is because they have proved it to us.
AA standards are the most exacting in the industry. But then the AA is one of Ireland’s most recognised and trusted brands. We have been recommending and acknowledging hotels for over a century. We have over 350,000 customers in Ireland; when those people look for hotels they know that the AA logo means the same quality of promise that they receive on the roadside or for their Home or Travel needs.
Whether it’s a hotel, guest house, self-catering accommodation or camping park that you work in you’ll understand the benefit of being associated with a well-established recognition scheme. An AA classification can make a big difference to how customers view your establishment. It tells your customers about your commitment to quality, and it also means access to AA marketing initiatives, AA eZines, and our 25,000 AA Rewards participants.
Our Classification system
Uncovering excellence is the mainstay of Hospitality at the AA. After all, we did invent the 1-5 star classification system for hotels that is now recognised all over the world.
All year round our experienced and specially trained team of expert inspectors are visiting, grading and advising hotels, judging presentation, quality of accommodation, service, hospitality, cleanliness, and of course, food.
Any hotel applying for AA recognition receives an annual unannounced visit to check standards. Our AA Inspectors pay as a guest for their inspection visit and do not accept free hospitality of any kind.
