The Yew Tree Restaurant is located in the original Victorian lounge at The Muckross Park Hotel, in the heart of the stunning Killarney National Park, 4 km from the town centre. The kitchen team is led by Chef John O'Leary who has created two distinct fixed-price menus, “The Ring of Kerry” and “The Wild Atlantic Way”. Each is based on specially selected prime Munster beef, freshly landed Atlantic seafood and seasonal creations. Most dishes have been paired with specially selected wines which are served from a trolley that is brought to table with descriptions offered by a member of the wine team. While there is great emphasis placed on local produce, prime ingredients such as foie gras are incorporated into a starter of panna cotta served with caramelized walnuts. There can be some interesting combinations incorporated into dishes, and a good “snout to tail” approach in others, such as maple coated breast of duck sitting beside a terrine of confit leg & liver. Desserts are worth saving some space for; many are quite light, but pull a punch in terms of flavour.
