Beaches Restaurant at Kelly's Resort Hotel

The Beaches restaurant is aptly named, as it sits on five miles of golden sands in Rosslare. The Kelly family have run their resort hotel since 1895 - why move when you can work in a setting like this? - and the venue is set up to capitalise on the views, bathed in light through good-sized windows, and with restful pastel hues, white linen on the tables, and a mini gallery of original artworks on the walls. Local produce is as good as it gets, and the kitchen has the experience and confidence to treat it all simply and let the sheer quality do the talking in simple contemporary dishes. Confit duck arrives in an unfussy combo with spiced pears and baked plums with five spice, while local goose from an artisan producer is roasted and pointed up with chestnut stuffing, braised ham, caramelised pear and glazed pearl onions. Yoghurt and lime pannacotta with raspberry sorbet provides a refreshing finale.
