Rowan Tree Restaurant at Ashdown Park Hotel

Station Road, Gorey
aaicon Restaurant %

With sandy beaches and golf courses nearby, this modern hotel on a grand scale, within walking distance of the centre of Gorey, has plenty of attractions of its own. There's a spa and conference facilities, for a start, plus some 22 acres of grounds to explore. It is also home to the Rowan Tree Restaurant, where tables are dressed up in crisp white linen, and the kitchen turns out some pleasingly straightforward dishes based on good local ingredients, including some things from the grounds. Start with a Caesar salad with croûtons, smoked bacon and parmesan, or prawn and pineapple skewers with an Asian dressing. Next up, rump of Wexford lamb is roasted and served with buttered cabbage and thyme jus, or there might be a duo of cod and rainbow trout with braised leeks and almond and dill butter, and for dessert, something like mango cheesecake with blackcurrant coulis.
