Traffic Restrictions for the Aviva Stadium Dublin

Where is the Aviva Stadium Dublin

The Aviva Stadium is located in Ballsbridge. There are five entry routes, which are colour coded; at Shelbourne Rd (Blue), Lansdowne Lane (Orange), Lansdowne Rd (Green), Herbert Rd (purple) and Bath Ave (Red). The Stadium has the capacity for 50,000 people.

From approx three hours before the event Herbert Rd, Shelbourne Rd, Lansdowne Rd, Lansdowne Pk, Londonbridge Rd, Newbridge Ave and all other side roads off these roads will be closed to through traffic. Bath Ave will close two hours prior to events.

Newbridge Ave, Herbert Rd, Shelbourne Rd and the remainder of Lansdowne Rd will be closed to traffic three hours prior to any large events.

Parking near Aviva

There is no parking available on site and there is very limited parking in the area, so patrons are strongly advised to utilise public transport. Motorists are advised to allow at least an extra 90 minutes travel time to and from the venue.

From 7am on large event days, parking restrictions will be in place on Lansdowne Rd, Shelbourne Rd, Havelock Square, Newbridge Ave, Herbert Rd, Lansdowne Lane and Shelbourne Rd.

DART Services for Aviva Stadium

There will be extra capacity on the DART on event days. Purple and Red ticket holders heading to the event should disembark at Grand Canal Dock. However, all other passengers should disembark at Lansdowne Rd.

After the event, all DART passengers must go to Lansdowne Rd station, where a forecourt will cope with the huge numbers using the service. Grand Canal Dock station will be closed for safety reasons.

Lansdowne Rd DART barriers will remain down for the duration of the event. Pedestrians may cross via the under-pass in the Stadium.

Luas Line to Aviva

Patrons taking the Luas Red Line should disembark at Spencer Dock. From there, cross the Samuel Beckett Bridge over the Liffey and onto Macken St, take a left onto Grand Canal St and at the Haddington Rd jct continue straight for Shelbourne Rd or left for Bath Ave.

Patrons taking the Luas Green Line should disembark at Charlemont. Exit onto Grand Parade, keeping Grand Canal on your left and continue along the canal until you reach the jct of Shelbourne Rd and Bath Ave.

Billy Elliot will be staged at the Bord Gais Energy Theater from Tues 26th July to Sat 3rd Sept. Evening shows will begin at 7:30pm while matinee performances starting at 2:30pm. Traffic delays can be expected on Macken St, particularly after the show. The following Dublin Bus Routes all operate to either Pearse Street or Grand Canal Dock, the closest stops to the venue: 1, 15a/b, 47, 56a, 77a. The last bus departs at 11:30pm Mon - Sun. The nearest stop on the Luas Red Line is Spencer Dock. From there patrons can walk via Samuel Beckett Bridge. The Grand Canal Square carpark is open from 7am to midnight daily. There are 150 spaces and 8 disabled spaces available. Other available carparks are at: Connolly Station, Jury’s Custom House, the NCI, Dawson St and Setanta Place (off Nassau Street).
