This Friday will see the Knockanstockan Festival return to the Blessington Lakes in Co. Wicklow for a weekend packed with live music and arts. Campsites open at midday on Friday and delays are likely on the N81 Baltinglass Rd throughout the weekend.
Then it’s time to Spruce up for Bruce and put a Springsteen in your step as The Boss hits Kilkenny this weekend. Traffic is likely to be very busy around Nowlan Park as a result on Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 1pm each day and traffic restrictions will be in place around the grounds from midday. At 7am on Saturday and Sunday, Hebron Rd and O’ Loughlin Rd will be closed to traffic. Those heading to the concert are advised to avail of public transport or the park & ride services at Cillin Hill, Clara GAA pitch and Kilkenny Rugby Club.
All eyes will be on Semple Stadium in Thurles on Sunday as the Senior Hurling Championship reaches the quarter final stage. Action gets underway at 2pm as Cork take on Kilkenny and then at 4pm Galway will play Clare in the second quarter final of the day. Extra traffic can be expected in Thurles but particularly on the Nenagh Rd (R498).
And finally Reek Sunday will see up to 25,000 people make the Annual Pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick. Participants will set out from Murrisk Abbey and traffic will be extremely heavy throughout the day as a result.
