Eat your cereal… but not while driving

The Roadwatch team did a short AA Survey through twitter (@aaroadwatch) asking people what the strangest thing they have ever seen anyone do while driving.

Let’s just say some of the answers are very worrying and quite difficult to do, to say the least. It goes without saying that we don’t condone talking on phones or eating cereal while driving but here are some of the answers we received.

Pete: “People driving with a dog on their lap”

Treabhar: “I saw someone reading a book on a steering wheel, southbound on M9 a while ago”

Stephen: “Putting on makeup while overtaking”

Dermot: “I saw a woman miss her exit on a roundabout so she reversed back to it”

Michael: “I saw a guy playing guitar while driving at 60mph … In USA”

Trisha: “I have seen someone with a parrot on their shoulder”

Diarmuid: “I was passed by a guy shaving doing over 100kph in a 60kph road construction zone! At least it was an electric shaver.”

Emma: “I’ve seen it all. But the cereal is the craziest. Milk, bowl and spoon. How do they do it?”

Martina: “Texting, make-up, nose picking and working on a laptop”

Mar: “I’ve seen someone brushing their teeth while driving yesterday”

Mick: “A woman driving in Douglas village, phone to her ear with one hand and a cigarette in the other.”

Janice: “I’ve seen all the above but strangest one was a girl driving while brushing her teeth”

Rachel: “Reading the newspaper! More dangerous than strange!!”

Cathal: “Using a hair straighteners”

David: “Texting which is crazy while going round a corner in Dublin near Trinity”

Muireann: “Shaving, brushing hair, applying makeup are all standard things I see on my commute in Dublin”

Matty: “Drink coffee and get dressed”
