‘McLoughlin’s Restaurant at AA 4 Star Roganstown Hotel and Country Club in Swords, Co. Dublin has been awarded an AA Rosette in recognition of their culinary excellence. Set in a 300 acre estate in north county Dublin just 11 miles from the city centre, the golf and spa destination, owned by Ian McGuinness who previously worked abroad for Siemens and Microsoft, offers peace and tranquillity in the middle of the urban landscape.
AA Rosettes are awarded solely for the quality of the restaurant’s cooking that demonstrates consistent standards of all dishes on the menus. Flavours are expected to be well-balanced and each dish appropriately presented using fresh and seasonal ingredients and the menu reflecting an obvious enthusiasm and commitment to promoting good quality food.
To specifically achieve one AA Rosette chefs need to display a mastery of basic techniques and be able to produce dishes of sound quality and clarity of flavors, using good and fresh ingredients.
On this front McLoughlin’s Restaurant, named after the family who worked the land at Roganstown since 1916, certainly delivers taking great care to use ingredients from recognised high quality producers and displaying a keen eye to seasonality. AA Hotel Inspectors were also impressed by the presentation of their dishes which delight the eyes in advance of the pallet.
AA Hotel Inspectors also described McLoughlin’s Restaurant as one to watch if they continue to act on the feedback proffered and maintain their excellent level of progress.

The aim of the Rosette scheme is to provide AA Members, its guidebook readers and the general public reliable information about where to eat. Rosettes are awarded on a rising scale of 1 to 5. The AA has been awarding Rosettes since 1955. There are currently 100 Rosette Award winning restaurants in Ireland.
