Located in one of the most majestic and secluded castle hotels in Ireland, The Sandstone Restaurant at Lough Rynn Castle headed by new Executive Head Chef, Clare O’ Leary, has been awarded a prestigious AA Rosette for a third consecutive year for its excellent fine dining experience.
AA Rosettes are awarded solely for the quality of the restaurant’s cooking that demonstrates consistent standards of all dishes on the menus. Flavours are expected to be well-balanced and each dish appropriately presented using fresh and seasonal ingredients and the menu reflecting an obvious enthusiasm and commitment to promoting good quality food.
The achievement of an AA Rosette again this year by the dedicated team at The Sandstone Restaurant is particularly commendable given the appointment of new Executive Head Chef, Clare O’ Leary who admirably fills the shoes of her predecessor to deliver a beautifully presented classic menu with much to whet the appetite.
One of the important criterions in the achievement of an AA Rosette is the use of the freshest quality local produce something which the team at The Sandstone go to great pains to ensure. Ingredients for both their table d’hôte and à la carte menus are religiously sourced from top class local suppliers and artisan producers, something no doubt Lough Rynn’s original proprietor, Lord Leitrim himself would have approved of.
AA Hotel Inspectors were also complimentary of the friendly yet unobtrusive staff who help to set the relaxed and welcoming tone in their award winning restaurant. Modeled around a former shooting lodge, reappointed sandstone offers a unique decorative feature which adds to the overall ambience of the restaurant which exudes ancient character. Other unique features of the baronial style setting include antique furnishings, open fires, wood paneling and an enormous brass filigree chandelier with matching candelabras.
“We are delighted and proud to be retaining the AA Rosette awarded to the Sandstone Restaurant at Lough Rynn Castle for a Third Year Running. It is a great achievement for the Kitchen Team, who have undergone an entire change in the last 12 months, but in particular, Clare O Leary. Clare has a particular appetite to develop our food offering at Lough Rynn Castle further, where we are all looking forward to the delights yet to come”
“A huge congratulations to Head Chef, Clare O’ Leary in her first year at Lough Rynn Castle on retaining an AA Rosette Award. Lough Rynn is a truly special venue that offers the full package – breathtaking grounds, the highest levels of service, elegant accommodation and gourmet cooking. Well done to all concerned and wishing you continued success on into 2012.” Conor Faughnan, Director of Policy AA Ireland.
