AA Ireland is currently recruiting for Thunderhead Developer (Documentation production specialist). This position will be based at the Head Office in Dublin City Centre.
This Full time permanent position is situated within an Agile development team, responsible for the AA Policy Documentation which included automation and scripting language use. TheAA.ie is a significant site providing Motor, Home, Home Rescue & Travel quotes along with AA membership. The position is located in our city centre Head office close to Grafton Street.
We are looking for a candidate with 1-2 years’ experience to join our growing development team. Due to the on-going success and expansion of AA’s Ecommerce capability we are now are recruiting for a developer with experience of documentation production.

Reporting to: Snr Digital Development Manager
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and build customer documentation and correspondence via our thunderhead system (full training to be provided)
- Technical responsibility for maintaining and supporting company web solutions while also working on your own initiative to find optimum solutions
- Develop technical solutions to meet agreed business requirements, including automation and reporting using Scripting languages such as Powershell, Javascript
- Liaise with relevant personnel in business and IT to ensure rapid delivery of systems solutions
- Manage the development of software and ensure the quality of delivered systems
- Control the progress of development projects in a timely and effective manner
- Work within Agile Scrum team.
- Engender a culture of continuous improvement consistent with the cultural context of the organisation
- Seek opportunities to contribute original ideas to the benefit of the organisation
- Perform any other duties consistent with the skillset of the individual as required by the organisation from time to time.
- Working directly on application/technical problem identification and resolution
Desired Experience:
- Scripting knowledge in the following
- JavaScript and Java (or similar languages)
- PowerShell / general windows automation knowledge
- Knowledge of XML and preferably manipulating XML with scripts (.NET/PowerShell preferably)
- SQL – writing moderately complex queries and stored procedures
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, especially styling with CSS
- Good communication skills: ability to communicate with the business users, gather requirements, scope and estimate solutions, and delivery ownership/management.
- At least basic knowledge of XSLT used for generating some of the Thunderhead templates
- Experience in manually creating email templates with HTML and CSS
- Ability to work with minimum direction
- Problem solver
Non-essential Experience but beneficial:
- Maintain and develop a monitoring Dashboard using the .NET framework, C#, ASP.Net
- Knowledge of XSL-FO / XSLT (these are the languages/technology that underpin the creation of docs in Thunderhead)
- The PostScript document format
- Experience of Litmus (https://litmus.com) an advantage
- Experience of documentation systems and working with business on document specs
- Experience of insurance industry an advantage
- Knowledge of Git
