ROAD CONDITIONS

Met Eireann has issued a status Yellow wind warning for Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick. This will be in place from 6pm today until 6am tomorrow. West to southwest winds will reach speeds of 50 to 64 kmhr and will gust 90 to 109 kmhr this evening and tonight.

MAIN TRAFFIC

OFFALY: Main St (R445) in Moneygall is partially blocked as emergency services deal with a crash on. Delays can be expected.

DONEGAL: Gardai tell us the Laghey/ Pettigo Rd (R232) will reopened at approx. 8pm following an earlier collision. Diversions are in place.

CORK: A stop/go system is in place on the N20 Cork/ Limerick Rd at Buttevant as part of ongoing works in place until approx. September. Expect delays.

CORK: The Newcastle West Rd (R522) in Buttevant is closed between the N20 Cork/ Limerick Rd and New St until 4pm on Fri 24th April to facilitate works. Diversions will be in place.

GALWAY: Temporary traffic lights are in operation on the N59 Galway/ Clifden Rd in Moycullen until December. These works have been causing long delays during rush hour traffic so allow additional time for your journey if on your route.

KILKENNY: Works are taking place on the N77 Kilkenny/ Portlaoise Rd at Ballyragget Village until May and Ballynaslee until Sept. Traffic delays can be expected.


CITY TRAFFIC

CORK: Traffic is busy inbound from Leitrim St to the Christy Ring Bridge and again on Lavitt's Quay. Patrick St and the Grand Parade are slow onto Washington St. Further out there are delays approaching Douglas Village on the Douglas and South Douglas Rd's.

Lane restrictions will be in place on Evergreen Rd at the Summerhill South jct from 9:30am to 4:30pm each day until Monday (30th) due to works.

GALWAY: Wet and windy conditions in the city so drive with care. Traffic is moving well in the city at this stage. Slight delays inbound on the Headford Rd approaching Wood Quay.

Major works are underway on Lough Atalia Rd. From Tues 7th April until Fri 29th May, Lough Atalia Rd will be closed from the Fairgreen Rd jct to the rear entrance of Ceannt Station. During this time, a one-way system will operate on Lough Atalia Rd, Fairgreen Rd and College Rd. Expect major delays as a result of these works.

LIMERICK: Wet and windy in the city this evening. Traffic wise it's busy inbound on Roches St, O'Connell St and Henry St. Also busy from Sarsfield Bridge through to William St.

Temporary traffic lights are in place on Superquinn Rd from 8am until 8pm daily until Tues 31st March.

WATERFORD: There are no delays or incidents to report in Waterford City Centre.

Motorists are advised to expect delays on Upr Grange Rd between the Inner Ring Rd R/A and St Otteran's until Thurs 2nd Apr for works.

Traffic on the Quay between Penrose Lane and Hanover St has been reduced to one lane in both directions because of works on going until approx Fri 10th Apr to facilitate installation of cycle and bus lanes.  After these works are complete, traffic will permanently remain down to one lane both ways at that part of the Quay

EVENTS

LIMERICK: Munster host Connacht at Thomond Park today in round 18 of the Pro 12. Kick-off was at 5:15pm. Thomond Park is situated on Cratloe Rd on the northside of Limerick city. Delays can be expected in the area around the stadium before and after the event. A Garda cordon will be in place from 3hrs before the event to an hour after; on Ennis Rd at the entrance to Lansdowne Park, on Shelbourne Rd Upr at Shelbourne Park and Mayorstone Drive, on Kileely Rd at Ballynanty Rd, Knockalisheen Rd at Old Cratloe Rd, on Old Cratloe Rd at Mayorstone Ave and at Mayorstone Upr, on Shannonvale/ Hazeldene at Ennis Rd and Corrib Drive at Ennis Rd. Diversions will be in place.

LAOIS: Two games take place at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise today. Laois take on Antrim in the NHL Division 1B relegation play-off at 5pm. At 7pm then, Laois take on Kildare in Division 2 of the NFL. O’Moore Park is located on Old Knockmay Rd, just off the Abbeyleix Rd. Extra traffic can be expected through Portlaoise town before and after the matches.

DOWN: Down take on Meath today in Division 2 of the NFL. Throw in at Pairc Esler is at 7pm. Páirc Esler, Newry is located on the A2 Warrenpoint Rd at Ballinacraig Way. Delays can be expected on Warrenpoint Rd, William St and Dublin Rd Newry between 7pm and 9pm. Bear in mind as well that an increased number of pedestrians can be expected in Kilmorey St and Greenbank areas.

ROADWORKS

CORK: Works are in place on the N22 Cork/ Killarney Rd at Dunisky between Crookstown and Macroom until Fri 10th Apr. The works will then be in place in Macroom Town itself until approx Fri 8th May. The final stage of the works will take place just north of Macroom until Fri 15th May. Delays are likely so allow additional time for your journey.

CORK: The N73 Mallow/ Mitchelstown Rd is closed for works until Fri 8th May, from Oliver’s Cross outside Mallow to the Kildorrery Rd R/A on the N73 Mitchelstown Relief Rd. Diversions are in place

CORK: A stop/ go system will operate for works on the N72 Dungarvan/ Mallow Rd just outside Fermoy until approx. Wed 29th Apr. Motorists should expect delays.

TIPPERARY: Works are taking place on the N24 Waterford/ Limerick Rd, approx. 3km on the Clonmel side of Carrick on Suir until early May. Traffic is down to one lane for the duration of the works.

KILDARE: The eastbound express lane on approach to the Toll Plaza on the M4 Dublin/ Sligo Rd will be closed until approx. Wed 8th Apr for works.

WICKLOW: Glencree Rd is closed at Glencree until approx. Fri 3rd Apr due to a partial bridge collapse. Diversions are in place.

GALWAY: Works will take place on the N18 Galway/ Limerick Rd between Creganna and Hillpark from 9.15am until 4.30pm Mon to Fri until Fri 17th Apr. Delays can be expected.

LIMERICK: Works take place on the N24 Limerick/ Tipperary Rd near Dromkeen until late April. Expect some delays.

LIMERICK: Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the Birdhill/ Nenagh Rd (R445) at Lisnagry towards Castleconnell until Tuesday (31st).

LAOIS: The Templemore/ Abbeyleix Rd (R433) will be closed in Rathdowney at Mooreville until Tues 14th April for works. Diversions will be in place. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

ROSCOMMON: The Strokestown/ Elphin Rd (R368) will be closed until the end of April for works. Diversions will be in place via Ballygarden. HGVs will be diverted via Tulsk. Expect some delays as a result.

SLIGO: Works will take place on the N59 Sligo/ Ballina Rd in Ballysadare between Millview Park and Shanagolden until early June. Delays can be expected.

SLIGO: Works are ongoing on the N4 Dublin/ Sligo Rd at Hughes Bridge until July to widen the bridge. These works have been causing delays, particularly during rush hours so bear that in mind when planning your journey.

DONEGAL: Ashlawn Link Rd, opposite Letterkenny Institute of Technology, will be closed until Wed 1st Apr, from 8.30am to 5pm each day due to works.

LAOIS: The Johnstown/ Borris in Ossory Rd (R435) will be closed in Rathdowney between Pound St and Harp Rd until April for ongoing works. Diversions will be in place via Durrow.

WESTMEATH: The hard shoulder and left lanes of the M6 Galway/ Dublin Rd are closed in both directions between J8 Athlone East and J7 Moate West until 19th June for works. Take extra care along this stretch of road.

CLARE: Strand Line in Kilkee will be closed between the O'Connell St and Minister's Place jcts until Wed 6th May for works. Traffic will be one way southbound on Erin St from Market St to O'Connell St.

TIPPERARY: The N65 Loughrea/ Borrisokane Rd will be closed just south of Portumna between the Birr Rd jct (R489) and the Cloghan Rd jct (R438) until Wed 1st Apr. Diversions will be signposted and local access will be maintained.

TIPPERARY: Temporary traffic lights and a rolling stop/go system will be in place on the Birdhill/ Nenagh Rd (R445) from 7.30am to 7.30pm until April. Bear in mind that there will also be a stop/go system in place at Yellow Bridge during this time. Allow plenty of time for your journey.

TIPPERARY: Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the Limerick/ Nenagh Rd (R445) at Gortnaskeghy, Ballywilliam from 7.30am until 7.30pm daily until Wed 1st April.

TIPPERARY: Works are in place on the Cahir/ Mitchelstown Rd (R639) at Glengarra Wood until Fri 17th Apr. A traffic management system and reduced speed limit will operate along this route.

TIPPERARY: Temporary traffic lights are in place on the N74 Cashel/ Tipperary Rd through Thomastown until Thurs 30th Apr.
