ROAD CONDITIONS

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Wind Warning for counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick. Very strong southerly winds, with gusts between 90 and 100 kmph likely. Along the west coast mean winds will reach up to 65 kmph in the afternoon, with gusts between 100 and 110 kmph expected.  This warning is valid for Mon 3rd Aug from 9am to 9pm.

MAIN TRAFFIC

LIMERICK: Works continue on the N21 Limerick/ Tralee Rd, just west of Newcastle West, between Garryduff Cross and the Killarney Pole until December. These works have been causing delays, particularly during rush hour traffic so bear this in mind if on your route. 

CORK: Works are continuing on Main St, Buttevant on the N20 Cork/ Limerick Rd as part of ongoing works in place until approx. Sept. Delays can be expected, particularly during rush hour. To avoid long delays due to an increase in traffic over the Bank Holiday weekend, southbound traffic can divert at Lisballyhea while northbound traffic can divert at Newtwopothouse.

WEXFORD: A stop/ go system will be in place on the Wexford/ Rosslare Rd (R730) near Drinagh R/A until Fri 7th Aug for works. Expect delays.

MONAGHAN: Works are taking place on the N2 Dublin/ Monaghan Rd south of Castleblayney, between Derryilan and Tullyvin until approx. Sun 13th Sept.

KILKENNY: Works will take place on the N24 Tipperary/ Waterford Rd through Mooncoin Village until Fri 27th Nov. Temporary traffic lights will be in place. Delays can be expected.


CITY TRAFFIC

GALWAY: There are delays in both directions on the Barna Rd at Salthill, where it's also busy on the Promenade both ways. It's busy on the Dock Rd through to Fr. Griffin Rd.

Dominick St Upr will be closed from the Fairhill Rd jct to the Henry St jct until Mon 3rd Aug from 8pm to 2am each night for a street party.

CORK: It's busy in both directions on Patrick St. There are delays along the Quays from Merchant's Quay to Lavitt's Quay.

Clontarf Bridge is closed until Sunday 30th Aug due to works. Traffic coming over Brian Boru Bridge can either turn left onto Anderson's Quay, right at Custom House St & over Eamon DeValera Bridge and then out the South City Link Rd. Alternatively, motorists can turn right onto Merchants Quay. Traffic will be restricted travelling straight through this junction onto Clontarf St except for buses and Clarion Hotel traffic.

WATERFORD: It's slow in both directions on Parnell St and The Mall. It's busy then in both directions along the Quay .

LIMERICK: Traffic is light in Limerick City Centre at this time.

To facilitate works in place until Fri 21st Aug, Park Rd is closed between the Pa Healy Rd and the South Canal Bank, which itself will be closed. Park Bridge, North Canal Bank and part of the Lwr Park Rd is also closed during this period

EVENTS

WATERFORD: Spraoi International Street Arts Festival will take place in Waterford City until later today. The largest crowd is expected this evening at the parade which gets underway at 9:30pm. The parade will depart from Johnstown Industrial Estate at 9:30pm and will travel down John’s St, Michael St, Broad St, John Robert's Square and Barronstrand St before finishing on the Quay. Rolling road closures will come into effect from 8:30pm to approx. 11:30pm along the Quay to facilitate the parade and fireworks.

CORK: The Ahakista Annual Regatta takes place today. To facilitate the event, the local road through the village until 6:30pm. Expect delays in the area throughout the day.

CORK: The Bantry BBQ Festival takes place in Bantry until Mon 3rd Aug. Today, local road closures will be in place in the town until 10pm. Then, on Mon, closures will be in place from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Alternative routes will be signposted.

MEATH: Le Chéile Arts and Music Festival takes place in Oldcastle until Mon 3rd Aug. Events takes place throughout the weekend and delays are likely on the Virginia/ Castlepollard Rd (R195) and on the Ballinagh/ Athboy Rd (R154) through Oldcastle as a result.

OFFALY: The Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival takes place until Fri 7th Aug. Events will take place over the course of the week and delays are likely; especially today for Vintage Sunday. 

OFFALY: Muc Fair takes place at The Green in Geashill today. As a result, there will be road closures in place in the vicinity until 7pm.

OFFALY: Castlepalooza takes place at Charleville Castle, Tullamore until tonight (2nd). Travel is easy to and from Tullamore, with road access on the M6 motorway and regular buses & trains leaving from Dublin, Galway, Cork & Limerick.

CLARE: The Scariff Harbour Festival takes place until later today. To facilitate the event, Connaught Rd is closed between the Fire Station and Fairgreen until midnight. Traffic restrictions will also be in place on Main St between these times.

GALWAY:  Today is the final day of the Galway Racing Festival and racing is underway with the last race off at 6pm. Galway Racecourse is situated approximately 5km from Galway City, in Ballybrit on Bothar na Dtreabh. Expect delays in the area before and after the races.

MAYO: Siamsa Sráide takes place in Swinford until Wed 5th Aug. Events will take place throughout the town over the course of the Bank Holiday Weekend and the following road closure will be in place: Market St will close on Mon 3rd Aug from 2pm to 5:30pm and then from 9:30pm on Monday, Market St and Main St will close until 2am on Thurs 6th Aug. Delays are likely in Swinford and in the vicinity of the town throughout the festival.

ROSCOMMON: The Castlerea Rose Festival takes place until later today. A number of events will take place over the course of the festival and delays are likely around the town.

CAVAN: Due to the Festival of Erne taking place until Mon 3rd Aug, closures will be in place on Upr Bridge St, the Diamond and Butler St in Belturbet at various times until Mon 3rd Aug; today (2nd) from 5pm to 8pm and Monday (3rd) from 7.30pm to 11pm.

DONEGAL: The Ballyshannon Folk and Traditional Music Festival takes place until later today.  Extra traffic can be expected around the town throughout the Bank Holiday Weekend.

DONEGAL:  A family fun day takes place on Main St in Lifford and as a result, Main St will be closed from Foyle View St to Butcher St between 3pm and 7pm.

DONEGAL: The Clonmany Festival takes place until Sun 9th August. As a result, there will be a number of local road closures in place throughout the town at the following times: today (2nd) until 12:45am, from Mon 3rd until Thurs 6th between 6pm and 12:45am, on Fri 7th between 10am and 12:45am, on Sat 8th between 6pm and 12:45am and finally on Sun 9th between 1pm and 12:45am. Alternative routes will be signposted and motorists are advised to expect some delays.

ROADWORKS

CORK: Lane restrictions will be in place for outbound traffic on the Bishopstown Rd just west of the High St Centre until Fri 14th August to facilitate works.

WICKLOW: Traffic will be reduced to one lane and a stop/ go system will be in place on the Dublin Rd in Arklow between the Sea Rd jct and J20 Arklow North on the M11 until approx. Fri 14th Aug. The works are in place Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm each day. Expect some delays.

MAYO: Traffic will be reduced to one lane and traffic lights will also be in place on the Castlebar/ Newport Rd (R311) until approx. Fri 14th Aug daily from 8am to 6pm.

ROSCOMMON: The Boyle/ Castlerea Rd (R361) will be closed between Killerdoo and Breedoge Bridge near Carrowcrin until Fri 7th Aug. Diversions are in place.

LIMERICK: A rolling stop/ go system will be in place on the Old N7 (R445) between Limerick and Castleconnell from 8am to 7pm each day until Fri 7th Aug for works. Expect delays.

CORK: Abbey View in Buttevant will close for works between its jcts with Main St and New St until 7:30pm on Fri 11th Sept. Diversions will be signposted. Expect delays.

CORK: The Fivemilebridge/ Ballinhassig Rd (R613) onto the N71 Cork/ Clonakilty Rd will be closed at Ballinhassig until 8pm on Mon 3rd Aug. Diversions will be in place via Halfway.

LAOIS: Traffic will be reduced to one lane for works on the N80 Stradbally Rd, Portlaoise between the SCR and Block Rd jcts until Sept. A stop/ go system will be in place so expect some delays.

MEATH: The local Lougher Rd in Gilltown will be closed until Fri 14th Aug to facilitate works on Gilltown Bridge.

MEATH: Newbridge on the Kentstown Rd in Navan is closed until Fri 21st Aug to facilitate works. Use an alternative route.

KILDARE: A one way system will be in place southbound on the Kilcullen Rd (R448) in Naas at Piper's Hill, as part of ongoing works until December. Traffic wishing to access Naas from the Kilcullen direction will need to divert at Mylerstown Cross, drive towards Punchestown and then towards Naas on the Ballymore Eustace Rd (R411).
