National Summary Report

MAIN TRAFFIC

DOWN: Expect delays in the Dundrum area following a crash on the A2 Belfast Rd. The Newcastle bound lane is currently closed. 

CORK: In Mallow, the N72 Killarney/ Fermoy Rd is closed northbound from Mallow Bridge (R619) to Muddy Hill until Tues 20th May for works. Diversions are signposted.

OFFALY: A stop /go system is in operation at Rahan Bridge until 6pm Wednesday 30th April. Take extra care on approach.   

EVENTS

MEATH: The Fairyhouse Easter Racing Festival takes place today and tomorrow (21st). Large crowds are expected today (20th) for the Gold Cup but the busiest day is likely to be on Monday for the Irish Grand National and Ladies Day. Today, the first race is at 2:40pm and the last race is at 5:40pm. On Monday, the first race is at 2:45pm and the last race is at 6:35pm.

KILDARE
: The Naas Easter Sunday Parade takes place today. It's due to start at approx 2:45pm and will travel from Blessington Rd onto Main St.

LIMERICK: The National Hurling League Semi Finals take place at the Gaelic Grounds on today. At 2pm, Kilkenny will play Galway and then at 4pm Clare take on Tipperary. 

KERRY/ CORK:  Rás Mumhan takes place around Co. Kerry and Cork until Mon 21st April. Stage 3 is underway with participants making their way around Valentia and South Kerry. Delays are likely around Cahersiveen, Portmagee, Chapeltown and Ballinskelligs.

CORK: The Easter Racing Festival is taking place at Cork Racecourse Mallow until Mon 21st April. Today, the first race is at 2:30pm and the last race is at 5:30pm. On Monday, the first race is at 1:55pm and the last race is at 5:50pm. Today is Ladies Day and large crowds are expected to attend. To facilitate the event, Davis St in Mallow is closed from St. James Ave to the Clock House until 4pm. Diversions are in place. There will be a free shuttle bus service to/from the racecourse and Mallow Town and train station.


CITY TRAFFIC

GALWAY: No major delays or incidents to report in Galway City Centre. 

Part of Woodquay St will be closed northbound for the Galway Food Festival until 7pm. Motorists can travel via St Francis St and Vincent’s Ave. Diversions are signposted. Local access is being maintained.

CORK: No major delays or incidents to report in Cork City Centre.

LIMERICK: No major delays or incidents to report in Limerick City Centre. There are works taking place at the Groody R/A. Expect delays.

WATERFORD: No major delays to report in Waterford City Centre this morning. 

ROADWORKS

MEATH: On the M1 Dublin/ Belfast Rd northbound the right lane will be closed between J7 Julianstown and J8 Duleek each day from 7:30pm to 6:30am the following day until Mon 28th April for works

WICKLOW: The Kilboy Rd just off the N11 Wexford/ Dublin Rd, will be closed until Thurs 1st May due to works.

MEATH: The local Donore/ Slane Rd is closed until further notice due to emergency works.

WESTMEATH: Northgate St in Athlone is closed until later today. Diversions are in place. The Old Galway Rd (R466) is closed to traffic entering from Monksland. Traffic is being diverted via the N6 Galway/ Dublin Rd at J13 Athlone West and back via J12 Roscommon and the Galway Rd.

SLIGO: Works will take place on the Drumacoo Rd (R294) until Mon 21st April. Traffic control will be in operation and a 50kph speed limit will be in place. Minor delays are expected. Drive with care.
