Important Information for Drivers in Europe

Motorway Emergency Phones

On many European motorways – particularly in France, Italy and Spain – you’ll find orange emergency roadside phones placed at regular intervals.

These connect directly to the motorway operator, which often allows assistance to reach you faster than calling by mobile phone.

European Emergency Number (112)

The 112 emergency number works across all EU countries and most of Europe.

You can dial 112 even if your phone has no SIM card, making it the most reliable number to remember when travelling.
