There’s good news for commuters, shoppers and traders in Dublin city centre, as work on the Luas Cross City project has been “significantly reduced” for the Christmas and New Year period.
Luas Cross City say that the aim is to “ensure easy access around the city for all and to support retail, hospitality, shoppers, commuters and visitors.” The changes are effective until Wednesday 4th January.
The big news is that work has been suspended on Dawson St, the retail side of Nassau St and Lower Grafton St, Westmoreland St and on both sides of O’Connell St – though some work will continue in the middle of the road.
See below for a summary of the other changes:
- Road works remain on Parnell St. However, there is full access to pavements on both sides of the street between the O’Connell St and Dominick St Lwr junctions.
- Road access from O’Connell St to Dominick St Lwr via Parnell St has been widened to two lanes westbound, to improve access to car parks.
- Pavement works outside business premises have stopped until January 2017. However, work will continue on footpaths around Trinity College.
- There are road works on Marlborough St and Hawkins St.
The maps below from Luas Cross City indicate where work will/will not be carried out over the festive period.
