Rail users face disruption this bank holiday weekend due to engineering works on several routes. Irish Rail advise customers to check times on services from Saturday to Monday, and to book in advance if possible.
From 11.30pm on Friday until 1pm on Monday, bus transfers will operate on all services between Drogheda and Dundalk – including the Dublin/Belfast Enterprise. Meanwhile all Drogheda/ Dublin trains will use Connolly.
In Dublin, no trains will run between Connolly and Grand Canal Dock from Saturday to Monday due to works, and a range of contingencies are in place:
- Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets on the number 1 bus between Grand Canal Dock and the city centre.
- Early morning DARTs will operate on Sunday 30th October for customers travelling to the Dublin Marathon, at 7:05am from Malahide to Connolly and 6:45am from Greystones to Grand Canal Dock.
- Rosslare Intercity services will operate to and from Pearse only (customers booking online may book Bray to Rosslare and board at Pearse).
- Maynooth commuter services will operate between Maynooth and Connolly.
- Drogheda commuter services will operate between Drogheda and Connolly.
In addition, there will be a revised schedule on all routes to and from Heuston on Saturday and Sunday, due to works on the line. The frequency will be reduced on some services, but Irish Rail promise increased capacity on individual trains.
Finally, if you are planning to travel between Dublin and Waterford on Saturday or Sunday, you can expect a bus transfer between Dublin and Athy.
