Toyota Yaris Cross

Winner of Best Small Crossover

Toyota Yaris Cross

The small crossover segment has grown dramatically over the last few years and is now super competitive, but the Yaris Cross has come out on top with our jury for its looks, quality and versatility. Karl Connolly from Carzone said; “The Toyota Yaris Cross builds on the monumental success of the admirable Yaris brand, with extra space, greater road presence and a proven hybrid powertrain. All of this makes it a standout small crossover option and indeed the eighth best-selling new car in Ireland so far in 2022. The Yaris Cross is available in three specifications and comes with a 116hp 1.5-litre Hybrid engine which is very fuel efficient.

Runners Up

Ford Puma

Ford Puma

The Ford Puma takes some of the essences of the original Ford Puma Coupé from the early 2000s and brings it into the modern era, as a small SUV with dramatic styling the usual hallmark of Ford’s ultra-sharp handling. It comes with a choice of Mild Hybrid engines, a 1.0-litre with either 125- or 155hp and there is also a performance ST version with a 1.5-litre 200hp Ecoboost engine, which is a total hoot to drive. Prices start from €28,789.

Hyundai Kona

Hyundai Kona

The Kona, especially in its latest iteration, offers outstanding value for money and the EV version is an outstanding buy, as it has one of the most energy-efficient batteries you can get in any car. The Kona starts from €25,395 with a 1.0-litre petrol engine and moves up to €28,995 with an N Line spec and a 2-tone roof. There is also a Hybrid from €32,045 and the best buy of all, the Kona Electric from €32,495.
