Staying Safe At Home During The COVID-19 Outbreak

With many of us now spending more of our day at home than we would have ever imagined, protecting your home from any unfortunate mishaps is more important now than ever before. Juggling family life and working from home is challenging enough, without any additional drama such as accidental damage or your freezer going kaput.

Thankfully, the AA Home Insurance team have provided some helpful tips to keep your home, family, and sanity safe over the next few weeks.

Accidents will happen, but your wallet shouldn’t suffer.

Entertaining children while trying to join a conference call can be a difficult task and in your attempts to manage both, you may well let your attention slip. Depending on the age of your children, they may be able to manage without your constant attention but in the few minutes you’re busy with a call a younger child could accidentally damage a valuable item – for example, knocking a t.v off of a stand. Even an older child, in trying to pass some time outside could accidentally kick a football through your front window.

When your hear that sound of your t.v. hitting the floor or a window being smashed, two things will likely happen. Firstly, you’ll want to check that your children are alright but as soon as you know they are, the thoughts of “how much is this going to cost me?” will kick in. Thankfully with AA Home Insurance, you can add accidental damage cover to your policy to help ensure your bank account doesn’t take an unexpected hit during these difficult times.

Your food supplies may be protected too.

While the panic buying in grocery stores has stopped (or at least slowed down) at this point, many people across the country have stocked up on food leading to overflowing cupboards and freezers struggling to close. All the pasta, chopped tomatoes and tinned chickpeas in your cupboards may be safe, but a temporary power disruption to your freezer could cause significant financial loss as a result of food spoilage.

The good news is that if such an event were to happen, you don’t need to be in the book for replacing the lost food. With AA Home Insurance, we cover the contents of your freezer up to the value of €2,000 – perfect if you indulged in a little panic buying yourself.

Let’s face it, with everything that’s going on in the world right now nobody wants to spend time on hold with a call centre trying to purchase home insurance.
